Bow your heads – Lon Hopson

Lon Hopson, a Bronze Star recipient and veteran of the United States Air Force, fell asleep in his Savior on January 4, 2024 at Dayton VA Medical Center.
The son of Patricia Rochelle and Richard Hopson. Lon was born in Sherman, TX on March 16, 1965. He attended Bellevue West High School before joining the military in 1983. While serving his 26 years of military service, Lon obtained an undergraduate degree in Computer Information Systems and a master’s degree in Acquisition and Contract Management from Bellevue University, Bellevue, NE.
Following in the footsteps of his stepfather Freddie Rochelle Lon enlisted in the USAF at the age of 19 and served as an active member of the Tactical Air Control Party (TACP) for nearly 26 years. In 2009, he retired at the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. Lon was valued service member.
A dedicated worker, a great friend and a family man.
Lon survived by his wife Dee Hopson, daughters; Savannah, and Alysha Hopson, father, mother, stepfather and joins his late sister Tana Brinke in sleep until the return.
He loved Jesus and was faithful member of Beavercreek Seventh-day Adventist Church. The following passage speaks to his memory and spirit, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give on me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.” II Timothy 4: 7-8 NKJV
The Celebration of life will be held at Beavercreek Seventh-day Adventist Church on January 10, 2024 at 10am. There will be a repast afterwards. The interment will take place at 9:00am on Thursday January 11, at the Dayton National Cemetery.
